Destiny 2: How to Get Ascendant Shards | Game Rant

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is filled with various weapons and armor to unlock. The best way for players to spruce up their Guardian is to unlock Masterwork legendary weapons and acquiring Exotic gear. However, to do so requires collecting a resource known as Ascendant Shards. There are a bunch of ways to collect these, so check out this Destiny 2 guide to learn how.

To be clear, grabbing this special item is by no means easy and Guardians will need to complete pinnacle activities. Whether completing the ultimate challenge of Nightfall Strikes or winning games in Trials of Osiris, players' skills will be put to the test. There are some methods that demand less effort but limit how many Shards players can get. Regardless, these items are necessary for building up a Guardian's kit, so focus on these ways to buff up fast.

Starting with the simplest way to get Ascendant Shards, just head to the personal vault and look for some Exotic gear. If there are any unnecessary Exotic weapons or armor in possession, just dismantle the pieces. Doing so will drop a Shard which can be put towards old Exotics at the Tower Kiosk. Another easy way to gather these is to visit Banshee-44 and purchase one. The Exo gunsmith will part with a Shard for 10 Enhancement Prisms, 100 Planetary Materials, and 50,000 Glimmer. While this way is fast, it is not cheap and still demands that a player grind to gather the payment.

The next two methods are also less subject to chance, but involve a hefty amount of play time. In the most recent expansions, Bungie started to include a Season Pass for players to purchase. By ranking up a Season Pass fast, a multitude of extra seasonal rewards become available. Ascendant Shards can drop from this process at various levels.

If buying the pass is not an option, focus on completing the Augmented Obsession Triumph. Speak to Variks once a week to get a Braytech Transponder, and use it to complete the 8 Augment Triumphs. After beating this challenge, return to Variks for a single Ascendant Shard reward.

The final ways to acquire this resource are the most consistent, but also most challenging. Guardians must beat the Nightfall Strike on either Master or Grandmaster difficulty for a chance at a drop. Since it is an uncommon tier reward, it has a decent chance to appear. Running these Strikes with a skilled fireteam should yield positive results.

The last method is to use every possible trick to win Trials of Osiris games. By winning seven consecutive matches without a loss, an Ascendant Shard will drop from the Lighthouse Chest. As a rare item for the best upgrades, Bungie does not make it easy for Guardians to gather Shards. But by sticking to these activities, players will be drowning in the resource in no time.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
