Pokemon GO: All Valentine's Day 2021 Field Research Tasks and Rewards
It's Valentine's Day, meaning that players in Pokemon GO can participate in the game's event for the holiday. This event includes multiple exclusive field research tasks, increased spawn rates of certain Pokemon, and plenty of prizes to earn.
The Pokemon GO Valentine's Day event will be running from February 14 at 1:00 PM to February 18 at 8:00 PM in players' local times. Players can obtain the various event-exclusive field research tasks by spinning PokeStops during the event's active times.
Fitting with the holiday, many of the research tasks are themed around Valentine's Day itself. This means that there are tasks requiring players to give gifts and catch certain a heart-shaped Pokemon.
There is a total of six different field research tasks that players can pick up from PokeStops during the Valentine's Day event. Each Pokemon encounter that serves as a reward for these research tasks has a chance to be shiny thanks to the new addition of shiny Alomomola. This means that players are recommended to complete as many of these tasks as they can if they are looking to hunt for shiny Pokemon.
The six field research tasks are:
- Catch 20 Luvdisc - Alomomola encounter
- Use five berries to help catch Pokemon - Ralts encounter
- Make five great curveball throws in a row - Heart-patterned Spinda encounter
- Win two raids - Alomomola encounter
- Send three gifts to friends - Volbeat or Illumise encounter
- Catch three Fairy-type Pokemon - Two Razz Berries
Each of these tasks has the potential to be incredibly helpful to many players. This can be due to just helping players fill out their Pokedex, giving the player helpful items, or getting players a special shiny encounter. Ralts especially can help players thanks to any Kirlia evolved during this event learning the event exclusive move Synchronoise as either a Gardevoir or Gallade.
Another important thing to keep in mind with these field research tasks is how they can be a big help for this event's collection challenge. Volbeat, Illumise, and Alomomola are among the Pokemon required for this challenge, making these tasks very helpful for those looking to complete it. In addition to this, while Volbeat and Illumise are among the increased spawn rates in the wild, Alomomola is not. This means that players wanting to catch one will need to either complete one of the research tasks offering its encounter as a prize or find one as a raid boss somewhere in their area.
Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS.
