Pokemon GO: How to Get Alomomola for Valentine's Day Collection Challenge
The newest event in Pokemon GO that players can take part in is the Valentine's Day event. While there aren't any timed research tasks for players to work toward, there are plenty of special features for those who participate.
One of the biggest parts of this event is the Valentine's Day Collection Challenge. This will require Pokemon GO players to catch twelve specific Pokemon during the event's duration in order to win a valuable reward.
The Valentine's Day event and all that it offers will only be available until February 18th at 8:00 PM in players' local times. Those wanting to get all of the possible rewards are recommended to do as much as they can before the event's end date comes along.
One of the Pokemon required for the Valentine's Day Collection Challenge is Alomomola. This pure Water-type Pokemon is originally from the Unova region as has a weakness to Grass and Electric-type moves. It also resists Steel, Water, Ice, and Fire-type moves in battle.
Despite Alomomola's appearance, it is not related to the other heart-shaped pure Water-type Pokemon, Luvdisc. Some players may initially think that their similarities in design imply that Luvdisc can be evolved into Alomomola, but the two simply exist as completely separate Pokemon.
Unlike the majority of the Pokemon that players need for the Valentine's Day Collection Challenge, Alomomola is not among the Pokemon with increased wild spawn rates. Instead, there are two main methods for players to encounter and catch this lovely fish.
The first way players can encounter Alomomola is by challenging one as a three-star raid boss. Players will just need to take advantage of Alomomola's rather common weaknesses in order to quickly take it down. The only issue can be with finding Alomomola as a raid boss due to there being five other Pokemon that can also be three-star raid bosses at this time.
Another way that players can encounter Alomomola is through completing field research tasks they gain from PokeStops during this event. There are two of them that offer an encounter with Alomomola as a reward with them being:
- Catch 20 Luvdisc
- Win two raids
Any method of encountering Alomomola will give players the small possibility of finding a shiny Alomomola instead of a normal one. A shiny Alomomola will be purple instead of the normal pink, but there is not guarantee that one will appear. Players wanting one however should repeat the above methods for finding Alomomola until they do find and catch one.
Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS.
