Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Adds First-Person Option to Dead Ops Arcade
One of the things that was brought back for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was the Dead Ops Arcade co-op mode. Specifically, the new third installment Dead Ops Arcade 3: Rise of the Mamaback. Now the developers will be adding another addition to Dead Ops Arcade.
Yesterday, Treyarch tweeted out that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War would a receive a new game mode to Dead Ops Arcade. The developer introduced Dead Ops Arcade: First Person, which should be launching today with public matches for players. The tweet said that the new game mode will be a 4-player Zombies experience and will feature a lot of activities for players to check out.
Normally, the arcade shooter has players control soldiers from the top-down perspective as they fight through enemies. This time though, Dead Ops Arcade's new game mode will let players take full control of the soldier they're playing and get in on the fighting themselves.
According to the tweet, Dead Ops Arcade: First Person will provide this feature along with other activities for players to engage with. They will fight through over 60 rounds of enemies and be able to find treasure and power-ups - all while exploring randomly generated Dungeons and teaming up against enemies such as Margwas, Crawlers, Blightfathers, and more. Call of Duty players can try out the new multiplayer game mode today.
Now, this isn't the first time players could access the first-person perspective in the Dead Ops Arcade series. Players could temporarily switch from the top-down level to the first-person by acquiring a power-up portrait in both Dead Ops Arcade 2 and Dead Ops Arcade 3. This time though, it seems that the first-person perspective will be a key element in the game mode.
The players' response to the tweet was largely positive. For the most part, many players voiced their excitement of the first-person element being added to the game. Specifically, the new game mode will combine the Dead Ops Arcade enemies and treasures with familiar Call of Duty first-person gameplay. Some players were already itching to try out the new experience in Dead Ops Arcade: First Person.
However, the tweet didn't say how long the new game mode will be available in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Now that public matches are available, players will be able to see for themselves how Dead Ops Arcade: First Person works for them.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
