Fortnite Theory Points to The Rock Being The Foundation
While a majority of fans may know him from his days in WWE or his many acting roles, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been intertwined with gaming for decades. Revealing the very first Xbox alongside Microsoft founder Bill Gates 20 years ago, the wrestler-turned-actor has always kept a finger on the pulse of the gaming industry. If some recent Fortnite theories are true, however, his involvement in video games is about to be on a whole new level.
Epic Games' popular free-to-play battle royale officially launches its sixth season just a few days ago. The finale to Fortnite's prior season was revealed in the Zero Point Crisis cinematic, which saw the likes of God of War's Kratos, Alien's Xenomorph and Ripley, and a slew of other characters from Season 5's many franchise crossovers.
As players who've seen the cinematic – which was directed by the Russo Brothers – will know, Agent Jones encounters The Foundation, a member of the mysterious "The Seven," a group which was first teased back in Season 4 of Fortnite's first chapter. After nearly beating Jones to death, The Foundation agrees to work with the now-rogue agent under the promise of being taken to someone named "Geno."
While the character may have just been introduced, many fans believe they already know who it is: The Rock. There are several factors that contribute to this theory: beyond the character arriving in an asteroid, which is a space rock. Building foundations also contain rock as well.
Building on that "foundation" of name similarity, some Reddit users have gone on to point out The Foundation's physical characteristics match up with The Rock's. As seen in the image, a section of The Foundation's armor matches up perfectly with Dwayne's tattoo profile, even down to the circular design on the left pec. Additionally, The Rock posted a cryptic video to his Instagram the day Fortnite Season 6 began where he talked about how that day "was a big day" in a "certain world." Johnson pauses at the end of the video before uttering "the foundation" along with his signature eyebrow raise. It's also worth mentioning the video is titled the same phrase as well.
All of these clues together create an extremely convincing case The Rock and The Foundation are one and the same. Dwayne Johnson did tease a potential Fortnite skin last November in response to a Thanksgiving Day parade float of his likeness, but many figured his possible appearance would be much more straightforward. Instead, it seems like the actor will have a much more integral role to Fortnite's ongoing storyline.
While the theoretical addition of The Rock would certainly be an exciting one, it's not the only exciting development rumored to happen. Dataminers have discovered evidence that suggests dinosaurs may soon arrive in Fortnite, something that would certainly fit in with Season 6's "Primal" theming.
Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
