Kingdom Hearts: Every Summon In The Series (& How To Get Them)

There are many different ways to win battles against enemies in Kingdom Hearts. Whether it be the many abilities that players can use, switching between different keyblade chains, or learning and upgrading all types of magic, there's a lot to do in every game. One useful power to use is summons.

Summons allow Sora to bring a strong character into battle to help him. They can either attack opponents or heal Sora, which can be very helpful in certain situations. Summons have appeared in four games throughout the series. Here is each one, the games they are in, and how to obtain them.

13 Simba

Simba is one of the most popular summons in the series, appearing in the original gameChain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts III. In the first installment, players can get the Earthshine Gem by talking to Leon in the Secret Waterway. From there, they can speak to the Fairy Godmother, who will allow them to fight alongside Simba. In Chain of Memories, players can get Simba in Traverse Town by going to the Room of Beginnings. Unlike these two games, Traverse Town doesn't appear in Kingdom Hearts III. To get Simba in this title, they must go to Monstropolis and get the Pride Heartbinder.

12 Genie

Genie is another popular summon in the series and players can obtain him in the first game, Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts II. To get him in the original title, players must finish Agrabah's story. When Genie gets his freedom, he decides to help Sora, Donald, and Goofy on their quest. In Chain of Memories, he can be found in the Room of Truth on the Agrabah floor. In Kingdom Hearts II, players can get the Lamp Charm in Agrabah.

11 Dumbo

Dumbo appears in both the original installment and Chain of Memories. After being swallowed by Monstro, Sora will get High Jump, which can be used to get a chest in Monstro's mouth that contains the Watergleam Gem. Once players speak to the Fairy Godmother, they can use Dumbo. That's how to get him in the first game. In Chain of Memories, players must go to Monstro's Room of Truth.

10 Bambi

Like Dumbo, Bambi also only appears in the first two games of the series. In the 100 Acre Wood, there are multiple minigames to play. One of them, Pooh's Hunny Hunt, rewards players with the Naturespark Gem.

Like the other gems, speak to the Fairy Godmother and she will let Bambi be used in battles. As for Chain of Memories, Bambi can be earned after players get past the 100 Acre Wood floor.

9 Cloud

Rather than coming from a Disney movie, Cloud is the only summon that is from a Square Enix game. The main character of Final Fantasy VII can only be used in Chain of Memories, and is the only summon from this game that is not also in the original title. He can be used after players reach the Room of Truth on the Olympus Coliseum floor.

8 Mushu

The main antagonist in the original game was Maleficent. At Hollow Bastion, players defeated her and were rewarded with the Fireglow Gem. The Fairy Godmother allows Mushu to fight alongside Sora after bringing this gem to her. As for Chain of Memories, the other game that he can be used in, he can be found in the Room of Rewards on the Hollow Bastion floor.

7 Tinker Bell

The last Disney world that appears in the first title is Neverland. After defeating Captain Hook and locking the keyhole in this world, Tinker Bell will willingly team up with the heroes, just like Genie did, rather than being used from a gem. She can also be obtained in Chain of Memories by reaching the Room of Truth on the Neverland floor.

6 Peter Pan

Rather than Tinker Bell being a summon in Kingdom Hearts II, Peter Pan can be used, though the fairy does appear with him as they are from the same world. When arriving at Port Royal a second time, players can go to the Inceptor's Hold at the Ship Graveyard and obtain the Feather Charm.

5 Chicken Little

In Kingdom Hearts II, after the Winnie the Pooh book was taken by the heartless and pages were ripped out, Sora tried to see if his friends from the 100 Acre Wood were okay. Unfortunately, Pooh was the only remaining character in it and he couldn't remember Sora or any of his other friends.

Upon hearing this, Merlin told Sora to find the missing pages in other worlds, just like he did in the first game. He also gave Sora the Baseball Charm, allowing Chicken Little to be summoned.

4 Stitch

Stitch is a summon that can be used in Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts III. In Ansem's Study at Hollow Bastion, players can find a chest that has the Ukulele Charm inside of it, which allows them to use Stitch in Kingdom Hearts II. As for Kingdom Hearts III, one of the last worlds that players go to is San Fransokyo. Here, they can play a minigame called Flash Tracer and obtain the Ohana Heartbinder, letting them summon Stitch.

3 Ariel

Ariel is a summon in Kingdom Hearts III. She can be found in The Caribbean when Sora, Donald, and Goofy swim underwater. They eventually come across a chest but are attacked by a heartless before they can open it. Once the player defeats it and opens the chest, they are rewarded with the Ocean Heartbinder and can use Ariel.

2 Meow Wow

The first summon that players can get in Kingdom Hearts III is Meow Wow. Meow Wow is the only summon that is an original Kingdom Hearts character, first appearing as a party member in Dream Drop Distance. After leaving Olympus, Master Yen Sid gives Sora the Dream Heartbinder, which allows players to bring Meow Wow, as well as other dream eaters, into a fight.

1 Wreck-It Ralph

One of the most interesting and mysterious elements in Kingdom Hearts right now is a video game within the game called Verum Rex. Yozora, the main character of this game, has come to life and will play an important role in upcoming titles of the series. In Toy Box, players can play part of Verum Rex, which will give them the Pixel Heartbinder to summon Wreck-It Ralph.
