Valheim: How to Get Yellow Mushrooms and What are They For?
Valheim players that are wandering the Black Forest biome will occasionally come across small caves called Burial Chambers. These caves are filled with dangers, but also loads of valuable items worth the risk. One of these items is the Yellow Mushroom.
Yellow mushrooms are glow-in-the-dark mushrooms that can be found in caves and crypts. They only seem to spawn in Valheim's Sunken Crypts in the Swamps, Black Forest's Burial Chambers, and Troll Caves. They are easy to spot since they're phosphorescent. In spite of their odd look, they are edible and can be used for potions.
The Yellow Mushroom is not a very good food to eat in Valheim on its own. It only gives 20 health and 20 stamina; the effect lasts for 600 seconds. While there are many other foods in the game that are much better for increasing HP and stamina pools, it will do in a pinch.
Since the yellow mushroom isn't a great food for eating raw and domesticated boar won't eat them, yellow mushrooms should be saved for the two potion recipes that call for them. In order to create potions, players need both a cauldron, made from Black Forest Tin, and a Valheim Fermenter, made from bronze, fine wood, and resin. The two recipes that players can make from yellow mushrooms are both stamina potions: the minor stamina potion and the medium stamina potion.
Minor stamina potions can be used to restore 80 Stamina almost instantly. These potions have a cooldown of two minutes, but they can help players to get out of a tight spot. In order to make them, players will need to have not only put together a fermenter, but also found a Queen Bee in Valheim to have a source of honey. The recipe for 6 potions is:
- 10 Honey
- 10 Raspberries
- 10 Yellow Mushrooms
The medium stamina potion, which restores 160 stamina instantly, is currently a late-game item. This recipe requires Cloudberries, which are only found growing on the ground in the Plains. To make 6 potions, players need:
- 10 Honey
- 10 Cloudberries
- 10 Yellow Mushrooms
Since Valheim is still in Early Access, Irongate is still developing content for it. There are several unfinished biomes currently on the map, and players can expect that there will be a better stamina potion in the future. Perhaps the Major Stamina potion of the future will also call for these glowstick-like mushrooms.
Valheim is currently in Early Access for PC.
