Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3 Update File Size Confirmed
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone are both getting a heap of new content very soon. Treyarch released a major blowout of information alongside the team's roadmap for Season 3 of Cold War and Warzone, including tons of information on new multiplayer maps, additions to Zombies, and much more.
However, each and every new update always comes at the cost of precious memory space taken up by the new content being introduced, and Call of Duty games are infamous for having massive file sizes. Now, Treyarch has also detailed the file sizes for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone's Season 3 update across each platform, and thankfully they're much more manageable this time around.
There has been Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and, more specifically, Warzone updates in the past that have gone above 50 GB in size, much to the chagrin of Call of Duty's player base. Thankfully, it looks like players, regardless of their platform of choice, won't be dealing with any file sizes that massive. Once again, Treyarch has split the respective file sizes by game. For Black Ops Cold War the file sizes will range from 8.1 - 13.1 GB in size, while owners of Warzone will have downloads 25.2 - 25.9 GB in size.
The blog post also mentions a helpful reminder that the Warzone update is not necessary for players who are only playing Black Ops Cold War, which should save some players a nice bit of memory. So, while Warzone owners are going to have to download an additional 10 GB of data or so with this Season 3 update, the update files themselves are relatively manageable. Additionally, players will hopefully have a bit more free space coming off the back of the recent file size reduction for Warzone.
Here is the full list of Season 3 update file sizes:
PlayStation 5: 12.3 GB
PlayStation 4: 8.1 GB
Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S: 11.6 GB
Xbox One: 8.3 GB
PC: 13.1 GB
PlayStation 5: 25.6 GB
PlayStation 4: 25.6 GB
Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S: 25.9 GB
Xbox One: 25.9 GB
PC: 25.2 GB
Players won't have to wait long at all for these updates to start rolling out across all platforms. Black Ops Cold War's update will be available for players to download on April 20 at 9 PM PT, while Warzone's update will be available the following day on April 21 at 9 PM PT. While it's a bit odd that Call of Duty: Warzone's update start time is a day later than Black Ops Cold War's, Warzone players will only have to wait one extra day to get their hands on the new content coming to the game. On top of the additions to Zombies and the new multiplayer maps coming in Season 3, a variety of new weapons are being added to the game alongside a handful of new Operators.
Among the new Operators coming to the game is Captain Price, who is undoubtedly one of the most popular Call of Duty characters. Among the new weapons coming in Season 3 are the classic PPSh-41 SMG, the Swiss K31 sniper rifle, and the return of the fan-favorite Ballistic Knife melee weapon. Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War are available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
