DJMAX Portable 3 DLC Releases For DJMAX Respect | Game Rant
When DJMAX Respect was released in 2018, many fans of the longtime niche Korean rhythm game were drawn by the return of Neowiz MUCA's flagship series. For the first time in DJMAX history, Respect was released on console, lending its hand in helping revive the long-dormant consumer rhythm game genre.
While DJMAX's first appearance was on PC in 2004 with the release of DJMAX Online, the DJMAX Portable series on the PlayStation Portable was what helped the popularity of the series skyrocket. 2010 saw the release of DJMAX Portable 3, the fifth game in the Portable series following 2008's Clazziquai Edition and Black Square respectively.
Releasing as the final DJMAX game on the PSP before focusing on the arcade-exclusive Techinka series, DJMAX Portable 3 would be the most ambitious in the series, combining new gameplay mechanics and a graphic overhaul. It would also be the game that would be the last to attain representation in DJMAX Respect until now. After a teaser trailer promoting the DLC was released by Neowiz a week ago, the Portable 3 setlist was released earlier today following a short server maintenance period in preparation of the large patch.
Longtime DJMAX fans were able to identify the song in the trailer as "Renovation" by XeoN, a song from DJMAX Techinka Tune, which has yet to be released nor mentioned in DJMAX Respect. Many fans were able to correctly guess the inclusion of DJMAX Portable 3 due to the subtle animations in the trailer referencing the popular song, "Hanz up!" These details, both new and existing, were enough to encourage fans to assume that Technika Tune will be the next major DLC for Respect.
DJMAX Respect is best known for its collaborations, starting with its Guilty Gear DLC early in the game's infancy. Since its PC release in 2020, DJMAX Respect has collaborated with League of Legends, porting the champion Jinx's theme song, "Get Jinxed," as well as the popular K/DA song "POP/STARS." Other licensed artists including K-Pop artist YUKIKA and Monstercat artist Marshmello had also made their way into DJMAX Respect.
DJMAX Respect is currently available for the PC and PS4.
