Resident Evil Gameplay Confirms Lady Dimitrescu is Village's Mr. X
Resident Evil Village is shaping up to be one of the most memorable experiences Capcom has delivered to date. Among the most iconic characters to arrive in Resident Evil Village is the vampiric Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, an antagonist who has drawn tons of adoration from fans, enough that the developer even indulged in fan fantasies of the character. However, she still serves as a deadly adversary for players to avoid at all costs, and on the PlayStation Blog that was made clear alongside numerous other details regarding the survival horror game.
With the release of Resident Evil Village only a few weeks away, PlayStation dove into the Village and Castle settings, story details, enemies, and more. Village takes Resident Evil 7's protagonist Ethan Winters and thrusts him into a remote region in Eastern Europe as he searches for his kidnapped daughter. The chilling sequel features the return of saving via typewriter, new feral beasts called 'Lycans', and showcases Ethan's growth both as a character and in combat. One big reveal is that the matriarch of Castle Dimitrescu stalks Ethan just as much as Mr. X did in the Resident Evil 2 remake.
Going into further detail, the PlayStation Blog post acknowledges that the vampire caught fans' attentions despite little being known about how she impacts gameplay. Much like Mr. X, Dimitrescu follows Ethan through the halls of the Castle with a slow, steady, confident pace that reminds one of a horror slasher. Even more intimidating is her persistence, conveyed as she ducks through doorways to chase the player. The blog leaves a final warning that escape is the best guarantee for survival, as Lady Dimitrescu always has her claws sharpened and ready.
Fans of the series will remember that Jack from Resident Evil 7 similarly stalked Ethan throughout the Baker family estate. The major difference this time is that Lady Dimitrescu won't go down as easily, if at all. What's especially notable is how imposing the character truly is as she hunts for Ethan. Once she's less than a few feet away, the impending doom becomes all more apparent as Lady Dimitrescu towers over Ethan.
In any case, it's clear that players should listen closely for any incoming footsteps while navigating Castle Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village. Despite the love many fans have for the matriarch, she won't hesitate to put Ethan down for good.
Resident Evil Village is set to release on May 7, 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
