Deadpool And Blade Get Close In This Impressive Cosplay Photo
Marvel Studios must be eager to take its fancy new acquisitions for a ride, which now include Deadpool, Blade, and the ever-popular X-Men. However, while it still hasn’t been made clear how the MCU will bring all these characters together, cosplayers are already having fun imagining what it would be like if Ryan Reynolds were to run into Blade like he did when playing Hannibal King in Trinity.
Since Marvel revealed the daywalking vampire would be played by Mahershala Ali, little else has been said regarding the development of the Blade reboot, besides confirmation that it would be written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour and that it would not be part of the MCU’s current Phase Four. This is reportedly the same treatment Deadpool would get, as Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios find a way to slot the pair’s R-rated antics to Disney’s standards.
A cosplayer who goes by the name fatal_fantasy7 has at least a couple of ideas on how Blade and Deadpool could end up making their MCU debuts, and it involves an epic crossover for the ages. The sword-swinging, gunslinging antiheroes represent a wholly different aspect of Marvel, but it’d be nice to see if Wade Wilson can crack a smile out of Eric Brooks just like this hilarious photoset shows, even if it's hard to imagine the latter smiling if Deadpool gets too touchy for his liking.
As for the cosplayers’ faithful recreation of Blade and Deadpool, the former’s getup might be easier to produce with an all-black trenchcoat, boots, and shades delivering admirable results. However, fatal_fantasy7’s Deadpool outfit deserves the highest of praises for its faithfulness, right down to the teddy bear he took from Cable. The cosplayer’s Instagram profile is plastered with Deadpool pictures, as well as guest appearances from the likes of Domino, many different versions of Spider-Man, and even Harley Quinn.
It bears saying that Deadpool and Blade have crossed paths before in Marvel’s comic book lore thanks to their ties with the X-Men, most prominently during the Curse of the Mutants storyline that saw the Blade meet the X-Force. Funnily enough, Blade is briefly featured in the Avengers: Infinity War saga in the comics, so there are many avenues that might lead to him and his horde of vampires to the Avengers. In Deadpool's case, sneaking his way into the MCU is an even more straightforward path.
Although Kevin Feige may have said in the past that Deadpool 3 is supposed to be the MCU’s only R-rated film, considering the current efforts in place to make sure Blade honors his Blackness just like Black Panther, it would be a strange decision to deprive the vampire hunter of the same type of mature fun Ryan Reynolds will get to have on Disney’s time and budget. At the very least Marvel Studios could drop some MCU-style cameos or post-credits scene with the two.
