Every Video Game Release Coming Soon For Xbox Series X|S And Xbox One

There is a lot of gaming still to be done in 2021, and Microsoft's Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One both have full months ahead of them. So far in the year, Xbox owners have experienced Hitman 3Resident Evil Village, Subnautica: Below Zero, and Mass Effect Legendary Edition, just to name a handful of games. In the meantime, Xbox Game Pass has continued to go from strength to strength.

Regardless of whether someone's console of choice is an Xbox Series X/S or an Xbox One, they have plenty of new releases to look forward to. What Xbox games are set to drop in 2021 and beyond?

Disclaimer: Please note the focus is on North American release dates.

A packed few weeks of games await Xbox owners of both console generations, and June 2021 covers an expansive range of genres. The Elder Scrolls Online starts the month on a positive note by dropping its latest expansion, Blackwood. Just in case that is not enough MMO content, another massive name in the genre, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, will be coming to Microsoft's systems. Even though the original games can be played on the Xbox One, the Ninja Gaiden Master Collection is still a huge release. Scarlet Nexus rounds off the month nicely.

At the moment, July 2021 is lacking in quantity, however, the scheduled games should at least deliver quality. While somewhat niche, F1 2021 and Samurai Warriors 5 will certainly attract dedicated fanbases. RPG fans should keep an eye out for Cris Tales. Lastly, The Ascent will be instantly available on Xbox Game Pass.

Currently, September's lineup overshadows that of its predecessor, with a number of highly anticipated games scheduled for the month. WRC 10Tales of AriseLost Judgment, Aragami 2, and Life is Strange: True Colors are all (direct or indirect) follow-ups to great games; in fact, True Colors' Ultimate Edition will even include remastered versions of Life is Strange and Before the Storm.

While there should still be a lot of announcements and scheduling to be done before October, the month already has a few neat offerings. Left 4 Dead fans will want to check out Turtle Rock Studios' Back 4 Blood. Those looking for a retro shooter may want to keep note of Exophobia. Sunshine Manor also looks great. This month, Ubisoft's Far Cry 6 will be taking players to the Caribbean.

After dominating two generations, Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 5 will look to do the same with the Xbox Series X/S and PS5. By this point, GTA 5 and GTA Online need no introduction, and Rockstar's juggernaut IP is unlikely to lose steam anytime soon. Although details are still scarce, it should be interesting to see how Rockstar takes advantage of the new console's superior hardware.

With the shopping season in full swing, players will need to know exactly what is on offer in December. What games could make great gifts for the holiday season? Techland's Dying Light 2: Stay Human will certainly be a contender for the month's most talked-about release.

  • December 7Dying Light 2: Stay Human (XBX/S, XBO)
  • December 15Aeterna Noctis (XBX/S, XBO)

Rather than repeatedly delaying a game, many studios have taken to announcing a release year and then specifying a date later down the line. If they are ultimately released in 2021, Psychonauts 2 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 could feasibly rank among the biggest Xbox games of the year. Of course, there is also Halo Infinite, a game that would instantly become the Xbox's standout release of 2021.

"Coming soon" can mean anything from a few months to a couple of years. Beyond Good and Evil 2Diablo 4Dragon Age 4, and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 are all in development, but players will have to wait patiently to learn when these games will be made available to play. Projects like the new Bungie IP and Starfield are still a long way off from becoming a reality; however, at least the studios have confirmed they are working on them.

Just because a project has not been officially announced doesn't mean it cannot be discussed. Some rumored games, such as Forza Horizon 5 and Grand Theft Auto 6, should happen sooner or later. Other titles, such as Alan Wake 2, come with a healthy dose of wishful thinking.
