New Destiny 2 Mission Hides Scary Detail | Game Rant
The story surrounding the Season of the Splicer has continued to escalate each week at every reset on Tuesday. While the season started with a Vex attack on The Last City creating endless night, a civil war of sorts has continued to brew under the surface between those who don't want Mithrax and his House of Light Fallen camping out in the Botza District and those who actually sought to help them while they assist with the Vex issue.
While the citizens of The Last City continue to undermine each other, another threat has seemingly appeared also within the walls. The overarching nemesis Savathun looms large over the game's world as Bungie continues to pull the game towards The Witch Queen expansion early in 2022. New details from the Destiny 2 weekly reset this week seemingly reveal Savathun is the mastermind behind the Vex attack thanks to her control over the Taken Vex Hydra known as Quria.
This week, the Expunge mission in Destiny 2 featured a new twist on what players had been experiencing up to this point. The usual Expunge: Labyrinth mission this week featured a corrupted version which resulted after the Vex Nexus collapsed. Instead of being destroyed, the mission is now infected with Taken as well as a new Oppressive Mind boss to take down. However, the mission also features new dialogue and a creepy little detail that players seem to really enjoy.
The corrupted Vex known as Quria will actively speak and taunt the player throughout the mission. Periodically above the quest objective, messages will appear from Quria throughout the main jumping puzzle section. It gives the mission a more threatening feel as it seems like Quria is messaging the player directly taunting them about their impending death and how they're nothing but an insect. Considering the escalation of hostilities, it's quite possible that Bungie could be lining up the Vex Hydra for a big showdown with the player for the Destiny 2 finale event later this season.
Fans continue to speculate about the future of Destiny 2, namely trying to identify what Savathun is up to and who she may be impersonating to gain new intel on the Vanguard. Players have already seen a large amount of major NPC characters unknowingly singing Savathun's song including Lord Shaxx, Uldren "The Crow" Sov, and more recently, Lakshmi-2. One fan managed to piece together an interesting yet comical theory that Zavala's cat could be Savathun, though many have begun to notice the strange behavior and decision making of Osiris as suspicious.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light is now available PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
