Nintendo Switch Pro Pre-Orders Start on June 4, Says Rumor
After a period of radio silence, loads of news on a Nintendo Switch console revision in the form of a Switch Pro cropped up last week. The news ranged from rumored hardware details like a Microsoft Surface-esque kickstand and ethernet connectivity, to reports and insiders sharing information on supposed release dates for the console targeting a Fall release as well as a pre-E3 reveal.
Most recently, a listing appeared on Amazon Mexico for a "New Nintendo Switch Pro," but was later changed to a generic product ID number. Additionally, games insider Shpeshal_Nick recently claimed that news by way of a reveal or announcement for the new Switch system is supposedly set for this Thursday, June 3. Now, another insider is claiming to have confirmation of a listing for the Switch Pro going live on June 4.
Over on Twitter, prominent Pokemon leaker CentroLeaks posted a tweet stating that they had received inside information that pre-order listings for the new Switch console will go live on June 4 around midnight. It's not clear which timezone this would be for, but the listing is said to be for a "big retailer's internal system." CentroLeaks also tweeted out that they have learned of another listing with a June 30 release date, which is most likely a placeholder, they say.
Fans have speculated that CentroLeaks' comments on the June 4 listing being a non-US listing but from a US retailer are most likely referencing the Amazon Mexico listing that appeared last week. Should fans see a Switch Pro reveal this Thursday as claimed by Shpeshal_Nick, then pre-orders going live later that day, around June 4 at midnight according to CentroLeaks, does seem rather likely. Fans also speculate that the supposed Switch Pro listing may come from Walmart Canada, which has been known to leak video game information in the past, such as Bethesda's E3 lineup in 2018.
At this rate, it seems that a new Nintendo Switch console revision could be announced at any moment, whether through a Nintendo Direct or a shadow-dropped trailer like with the budget Switch Lite. The new system is rumored to have a 7-inch Samsung OLED display, Nvidia's DLSS technology, a higher price point than the original Switch model, and more. While information has come from a variety of sources, many fans have looked to Bloomberg's recent Switch Pro reports for credible information.
Aside from rumors of internal specs, much debate surrounds the console's official name, which Bloomberg claims to only be known internally by a few individuals at Nintendo. Although E3 is just around the corner, Nintendo has yet to announce a date for its presentation. Some speculate that the company is waiting to announce it after the reveal of the Switch Pro, but for now, only time will tell.
The Nintendo Switch Pro is rumored to be in development.
