Final Fantasy 6 Fan Creates Their Own Custom Figures of the Game's Party Members
The Final Fantasy series stretches over 5 decades of gaming, starting in 1987 with the original Final Fantasy and carrying on into 2020 with the Final Fantasy VII Remake. Over the years of new installments in the franchise, some consider one of the best entries in the series to be Final Fantasy VI. Recently, one inspired fan of the game decided to make figurines of some of his favorite party members.
Driven by the desire to show the world what Final Fantasy VI actions figures could look like, a Reddit user known as WutsTaters set out to create their own custom figurines from the game. Included in the set of custom figurines are Thief: Locke Cole, Assassin: Shadow, Magitek Elite: Terra Branford, and Rune Knight: Celes Chere. One of the main highlights of these models is that each character comes equipped with a weapon. These small details along with the authentic looking box art help sell the professional look of these figurines.
WutsTaters gave fans a glimpse into the process of making these action figures a reality. As the level of detail attests, they have worked on custom figurines for around 2 years at this point. According to the creator, some of the elements involved in making the characters include sourcing parts, sculpting, painting, and the use of Photoshop to complete the boxes. While they rarely work on one project at a time, they revealed that the entire process of making one individual character takes around 4-6 hours. Despite numerous fan cosplays of Final Fantasy characters, most agree that it's exciting to see someone like WutsTaters show their passion for the series in a different medium.
The custom figurines have made a splash with the Final Fantasy community. WutsTaters' Reddit Post has managed to gain over 1,200 upvotes with many fans commenting on the level of detail of the models. Some have gone as far as to suggest that the creator should start selling them. Unfortunately for those hoping to get their own custom Final Fantasy VI figurines from the designer in the future, this doesn't seem likely to happen. WutsTaters has stated that "this is a hobby anyways, wouldn't want it to get all burdensome."
With this group of party members completed, it will be interesting to see where WutsTaters goes from here. Based on the amount of characters in Final Fantasy VI along with the other titles in the series, there seems to be no shortage of options for him to choose from for his next group of action figures.
