Resident Evil Protagonists Get Official Perfumes | Game Rant
With Capcom’s horror game franchise Resident Evil celebrating its 25th year anniversary in 2021, there is likely no wonder that it has built a large fanbase across several decades. As fans continue to terrify themselves with the several titles under the franchise’s belt, most would likely consider the main protagonists such as Chris and Claire Redfield, Ada Wong, Leon Kennedy, and more, as unforgettable characters in the series. Now, Capcom is utilizing the popularity of these personalities, having recently announced a new line of perfume that feature some of the Resident Evil protagonists.
2021 is arguably a big year for Resident Evil. Not only has the franchise reached a big anniversary milestone, but it has also released an eighth title in the series through Resident Evil Village. What’s more, to start the anniversary festivities, Capcom expanded its horizons, creating an animated series called Resident Evil Infinite Darkness, that tickled the fancy of Resident Evil 4 fans, giving them a glimpse of how the series is connected to the fourth title.
On the official Japanese website of Capcom Japan, the company revealed a new mini perfume set that seemed to be inspired by three of Resident Evil’s most famous protagonists. The set comes with three perfume bottles, each 10ml in size, and is color-coded according to the RE characters. Green for Chris Redfield, dark blue for Leon Kennedy, and the only female protagonist in the set, teal for Jill Valentine. With the merchandise announcement written in Japanese, it is hard to decipher what the type of scents each bottle will have. Most likely they will be inspired by the appearance and personality of the iconic Resident Evil characters the scents are based on.
The perfume set was released on July 23, 2021, and is available for purchase from physical Capcom stores in Japan or the online Capcom store. Priced at 6,380 yen with tax included, interested buyers will have to shell out around $60 USD for these Resident Evil items. For fans of other Capcom series, this is not the only perfume set the company is releasing. Perfumes featuring characters from Devil May Cry 5, Ace Attorney, and even iconic creatures from the Monster Hunter series have been made available for purchase.
Given that there are still a few more months left in 2021, Resident Evil fans should likely expect more merchandise and exclusive paraphernalia to be announced by Capcom. Hopefully the company takes its Western audience in consideration, bringing these items outside of Japan and into a wider market.
