Subnautica: Every Life Pod Location | Game Rant

As the Aurora descended through the atmosphere of Planet 4546B, life pods were launched as an emergency protocol. The only capsule left intact in Subnautica was life pod 5. This is, of course, the life pod that carried the game's protagonist Ryley to the surface.

In the playable zones, there are nine other destroyed life pods that players can scavenge for valuable resources. Gamers who would like to find each of these locations as efficiently as possible can follow the instructions and coordinates in this guide, assisted by map of the area. Hopefully, knowing where to go can help reduce players' chances of being killed by hostile creatures.

Rather than go in depth about how to get to each location, this guide will provide coordinates, as well as the map above to make spotting them easier. Life pods 4 and 7 will be covered in more detail because they can be tricky to find on the map, and require a bit of puzzling within the game to determine their location. See below for each life pod, zone, and coordinates (X, Y, Z).

  • Life Pod 2: Northern Blood Kelp Zone (-490, -500, 1328)
  • Life Pod 3: Eastern Kelp Forest Zone (-33, -17, 408)
  • Life Pod 4: North Edge Of Crash Zone (717, -7, 161)
  • Life Pod 6: Easter Grassy Plateaus Zone (363, -110, 309)
  • Life Pod 7: Northern Craig Field (-55, -179, -1039)
  • Life Pod 12: Center Of Bulb Zone (1117, -268, 568)
  • Life Pod 13: Western Mushroom Forest (-919, -177, 508)
  • Life Pod 17: Western Grassy Plateaus (-510, -91, -45)
  • Life Pod 19: Sparse Reef (-808, -298, -873)

The proper way to find life pod 4 is to take the Seamoth and ride along the edge of the crash site and Mushroom Forest, on the east side of the map. Explorers will find the destroyed life pod toward the front of the ship, directly on the border between the two zones.

Players need to be careful in this area because Reapers roam everywhere. Many gamers have trouble finding life pod 4, because every other life pod is sitting on the ocean floor. This one, however, floats on the surface of the water.

Life pod 7 is on the south end of the map in a zone called Crag Field, west of the Aurora and east of the Grand Reef. This pod is quite deep, so it can be annoying to locate. During the descent, there are a number of dangerous creatures roaming. Thus, it is probably a good idea to have a defense module for the vehicle the player is using. There are a couple of things to look out for if the life pod is hard to spot:

  • If the water is murky, players are too close to the Aurora and will probably meet their death in the jaws of a Reaper Leviathan.
  • If there are a lot of bubbles in the water, players are too close to the Grand Reef.

Apart from those simple tips, most people will be able to find the locations using the map and coordinates above.

All nine life pods provide a useful item or two to help explorers survive and progress in the game. The following list will detain the important items in each life pod. Explorers can take a look at the items and decide if it's worth their time to search for each pod. Many of the blueprints for these items come in Data Boxes, which can then be used to fabricate the item in question.

Players should note that each of these life pods was intended to be discovered organically. Every life pod sends out a signal once the prerequisites for triggering it are completed, marking it as a beacon on the PDA. These will not be covered here, as all of the exact locations are mentioned above. Players don't need this signal in order to discover the life pods, so long as they know where to find them.

  • Life Pod 2: Contains the Cyclops Depth Module, increasing depth to 900 M.
  • Life Pod 3: Contains 1/2 Seaglide Fragments and the Compass.
  • Life Pod 4: Contains the First Aid Kit and Creature Decoy, which distracts hostile creatures.
  • Life Pod 6: Contains 2 Flares, Lead, and the Ultra Glide Fins, which improve swim speed.
  • Life Pod 7: Contains a Cylindrical Sample Flask, Gray Cap, Microscope, Toy Car, and Unusual Doll.
  • Life Pod 12: Contains the Repulsion Cannon, which is used to deter dangerous creatures.
  • Life Pod 13: Contains the Ultra Glide Fins, which increase swim speed.
  • Life Pod 17: Contains 1/3 Seamoth Fragments needed to fabricate the Seamoth.
  • Life Pod 19: Contains the Ultra High Capacity Tank, increasing total oxygen supply to 225.

Explorers may want to skip around to different pods depending on what items they wish to craft first. Players are better off going to life pod 6 instead of life pod 13 because they will get the Ultra Glide Fins data box along with a few other items. Life pods 4 and 7 are the most treacherous of the bunch, with scary creatures in and around the site. Explore carefully, and stay alive.
