The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD: How To Complete The Pumpkin Harvest Side Quest
The Pumpkin Harvest side quest in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD requires players to find someone to help Kina plow some soil for her latest pumpkin crop over on Pumpkin Landing. Before players can get started though, they'll first need to jump through quite a few hoops, although the rewards for doing so are definitely worth it.
As well as receiving five Gratitude Crystals for turning in the side quest, players will obtain two pieces of heart for completing some of the tasks that are required to actually unlock it. The quest itself is relatively straightforward too, so is definitely worth completing at some point before heading over to the game's final dungeon, Sky Loft.
Players won't be able to start the Pumpkin Harvest side quest until after they have completed the Fire Sanctuary dungeon and defeated The Imprisoned at the Sealed Grounds for the second time. They'll also need to complete three special tasks for Pumm, the owner of the Lumpy Pumpkin on Pumpkin Landing, the first of which is initiated by destroying his prized chandelier in pursuit of a piece of heart.
If Link speaks with Pumm after breaking the chandelier, the angry bartender will demand that Link cover the cost of a replacement and will assign the young adventurer a number of tasks so that he can pay off his debt. The first task involves Link delivering hot pumpkin soup to the Knight Commander of the Knight Academy on Skyloft in under five minutes and can be completed immediately after destroying the chandelier.
To complete the second task, players will need to return to Pumpkin Landing at any point after their first visit to the Earth Temple dungeon. Pumm will then ask Link to help his daughter Kina move some pumpkins, and players will need to carry five of them from the pumpkin patch to the storage shed without dropping any. Link will need to adjust his movement to keep the pumpkins balanced, but this is relatively straightforward for the most part.
The final task will become available once players have completed the Lanayru Mining Facility dungeon and received the Goddess' Harp from Zelda. It involves accompanying Kina as she performs for some of the Lumpy Pumpkin's regulars and will see Link rewarded with another heart piece if the performance goes well. After that, players can repeat the performance to earn Rupees, although the rewards aren't really worth the effort.
Once all three tasks have been completed and players have defeated The Imprisoned for a second time, they'll finally be able to return to Pumpkin Landing and speak with Kina out by the pumpkin patch to begin the side quest. She'll tell Link that she needs help plowing the pumpkin patch and ask him if he knows anyone who can help. If Link says yes, Fi will offer to set a suitable plower as a dowsing target and players can get to work finding them.
Given how much the Mogma like digging and their natural aptitude for it, players should make their way over to the Eldin Volcano area. That means heading over to the red pillar of light, and, when asked where they'd like to land, selecting either the Volcano Entry or Volcano East bird statue. It doesn't really matter which one players choose, as they're both about the same distance away from where they need to go.
Upon arriving at their chosen bird statue, players should make their way over to the mini volcano where they got their first pair of Mogma Mits, using the nearby hot air geyser to get up to the entrance. After jumping inside, they'll want to aim for the raised platform with the old Mogma on it, which is due north of the point where they first jump from. It's no big deal if they miss, as they can simply use the large hot air geyser nearby to exit the volcano and then try again.
After landing on the right platform, players should speak to the Mogma, Guld, who will reveal that he just so happens to be looking for a change of scenery. Players should select the "I know a place!" option, which will lead to Fi calling the scrapper robot to carry the old Mogma up above the clouds. It looks a little comical, but perhaps no more so than some of the other stuff in the game.
Once the scrapper robot has left, players should head to the nearest bird statue and return to the sky. They'll then need to lead the robot over to their desired location, just as they did when it was carrying the party wheel during the Fixing Fun Fun Island side quest. After arriving at Pumpkin Landing LD301S will drop the old Mogma down and players can finally collect their reward.
Guld seems to be happy enough with his new surroundings and, after a few demonstrations of his digging prowess, convinces Kina that he is the right Mogma for the job. Delighted with her new assistant, Kina will thank Link for bringing the pair together and hand the young hero five shiny Gratitude Crystals as a reward. This concludes the side quest, although, if they haven't already, players should head inside and sleep until nighttime so that they can collect the island's two loose Gratitude Crystals while they are here.
