Wanda And Loki Are The Unusual Duo The MCU Needs | Game Rant
After only four episodes of Loki so far, fans are starting to notice a big connection between Wanda and Loki. Both of these characters share a lot of similarities in their current stories, despite never having come in contact with one another in the MCU. Bringing them together in future projects might be exactly what Marvel needs in order to eradicate the threat of the multiverse imploding, now that alternate timelines have already been created without the permission of the Time Keepers.
Wanda and Loki are both extremely complicated and powerful beings, and while they’re good people at heart, their actions don’t always reflect their true nature. Loki has proven the God of Mischief to have feelings, which viewers noticed over the course of the series so far, when they saw him getting teary-eyed at the thought of Asgard being destroyed, and discovering that his family actually does love him. WandaVision covered the events of Wanda’s life both past and present in great detail, and though she sometimes makes poor choices, she always does her best to do the right thing.
The biggest reason that Wanda and Loki find themselves causing chaos is that the universe has decided that both of these characters were born to ruin the lives of others. The TVA told Loki that his “glorious purpose” in life is actually to make powerful heroes out of others, while never seeing any happiness or success for himself. Likewise, an ancient witchy prophecy has declared Wanda to be a harbinger of chaos magic, and the strength of her magic will supposedly consume the rest of the world. Neither of these characters truly want to harm others, but the cards of fate seem to be stacked quite heavily against them.
Additionally, Wanda and Loki inflict the most pain on others when experiencing large bursts of emotion during times of weakness or grief. What’s actually a lack of self-control, or self-preservation, is perceived as evil by the rest of the world, which is why Wanda and Loki both have now been vilified in the MCU. When Loki lashes out, it’s because of his feelings of inferiority that came from living a life of false promises in the shadow of his brother, Thor. Wanda has experienced a great deal of trauma in her young life, and using magic to fix it was the only way she knew how to grieve. It’s hard to call these two bad guys, given the circumstances surrounding their actions.
By bringing Wanda and Loki together, Marvel would be giving them a chance to interact with someone else who understands what they’re going through. Wanda has lost her parents, brother, lover, and children, while Loki has also lost his parents and possibly his brother. Depending on how the finale of Loki plays out, there’s a good chance the God of Mischief won’t be able to see Thor ever again, leaving him alone in the world. Knowing what it feels like to lose a loved one, and managing magic on top of it, would definitely be something Wanda and Loki could bond over.
Pairing them together isn’t something that’s happened yet in the MCU, but now that they’re both trying their hardest to be the best versions of themselves, it would be a great way for them to move on from their past selves and fight back against the fate the universe has forced upon them. It might also give them a chance to teach each other a thing or two about magic.
Wanda and Loki both have a lot to learn about their powers, as seen in WandaVision and episode three of Loki, where he asks Sylvie to teach him about getting in the minds of others. Wanda needs to master self-control, which is something Loki has since he’s been practicing magic for much longer than her. Additionally, Wanda has mastered the art of getting into people’s heads, which could be a great tool for Loki to use, so long as he continues to do the right thing.
These two could be great allies for each other, and spending time with someone who understands the regret that comes from using magic for the wrong reasons would be great for both of them. Loki has always wanted someone to believe in him, and Wanda doesn’t want to be alone after losing everyone she loved. If they were to team up in future projects, they could easily find a friend in one another, and ultimately help guide each other on the right path as they attempt to defy what the world has planned for them.
Wanda and Loki are definitely an unusual pairing, but the more fans learn about Loki in his new series, the more their partnership makes sense. Now that Loki is gaining extensive knowledge of the multiverse, and Wanda knows she’s capable of creating her own timelines, they could be a powerful force in the upcoming multiverse, whether they’re fighting against the Timekeepers or some other new villain that’s going to be introduced in the future. It might be a gamble to have Wanda and Loki unite forces, but it’s definitely a risk that the MCU needs to take.
