Paul Rudd Praises Jonathan Majors As Kang The Conqueror In Ant-Man 3

After helping to save the universe from Thanos, Ant-Man and the Wasp will return for another solo adventure. Recently, Paul Rudd praised his Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania co-star Jonathan Majors in his new villainous role as Kang the Conqueror.

Before reprising his role as Scott Land for Ant-Man 3, Rudd will be on the hunt for specters in the latest Ghostbusters sequel. While promoting Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Rudd spoke about the upcoming MCU film, speaking highly of Majors' role.

“I’ve loved everything he’s done, and I see what he’s doing in this, and I’m knocked out by it. It is really fun to bring new people into the fold, and the enthusiasm that people have is palpable,” Rudd said to Variety. Majors made his Marvel debut in the season finale of Loki, playing the character known as He Who Remains, a variant of Kang. While Majors' version of the character seen in Loki was more high-spirited and eccentric, what Rudd could be describing is a different take on Kang, the more evil one who is bent on conquering all of space and time. In the final episode of Loki season one, He Who Remains warned Loki and Sylvie about versions of himself that were less benevolent.

Heading down a more cosmic, multiversal direction, it appears that Kang is being set up as a huge threat for the MCU, one that could potentially span throughout multiple stories similar to how Thanos was presented during the Infinity Saga. How Kang will be connected to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is still not 100% clear, but the film's title obviously gives off a big hint (quantum realm connection). With its release date still over a year away, it will be interesting to see how much and when Kang is weaved into upcoming MCU films before his Ant-Man 3 debut.

Majors is no stranger to holding his ground as an actor in each of his projects. The rising star is coming off critical success with his work in films like The Last Black Man in San Francisco and Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods, as well as the Jordan Peele produced HBO series Lovecraft Country. Majors is set to star in Netflix's upcoming Western The Harder They Fall and will also play the main antagonist in Michael B. Jordan's directorial debut, Creed 3.

Rudd is not the only one to praise the next Ant-Man film. Star Evangeline Lilly, who plays Hope van Dyne/Wasp, recently shared her thoughts on the film's script, saying that Rick and Morty writer Jeff Loveness has done a wonderful job of bringing every character to life and harnessing each of their personalities, believing it to be the best film they have made out of the 3. Peyton Reed is returning to direct, with other cast members including Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne, and Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to release on February 17th, 2023.
