Animal Crossing: New Horizons - How to Get the Gold Fishing Rod
Animal Crossing: New Horizons lets players do almost anything they want to their islands and the tools they need to do it. Unfortunately, those tools often break, which can be frustrating. A good way around that is for Animal Crossing: New Horizons players to grab the Golden versions of all those tools.
The Golden version of each tool exists in the game, but they are much more difficult to get than normal tools. Players can grab the golden watering can, axe, and even the fishing rod. The golden fishing rod, like most of the other golden tools, has a lot of durability; it lasts for 200 uses, which is significantly more than any other in the game.
Getting the fishing rod is quite the task. There are 80 total fish in the game, and players have to grab every one that is not classified as a deep-sea fish. Some of these will be seasonal, so players will either have to wait out the year or time travel. There are some fish that are only available in March, so if any players missed one, they'll have to wait a whole year to get them without manipulating the time.
Players don't have to donate them all to Blather's museum to get the golden fishing rod, but doing so helps fill out those beautiful museum displays. Donating one of each kind of fish will also help to unlock other things in the game as well, so save those fish for donations.
Once all 80 are in the Critterpedia, which is quite the fish-catching Animal Crossing: New Horizons accomplishment, players will get the recipe in the mail. The recipe will call for one regular fishing rod and one gold nugget, so make sure to hold any that drop while exploring other areas. If players still need the net recipe, they can buy it from the kiosk for Nook miles. All in all, the golden fishing rod will help players to get even more of the most difficult fish to catch in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite.
