Hellraiser Movie Reboot Back in Development | Game Rant
Reboots of movies have a hit-or-miss track record, with Disney currently remaking a number of its animated classics — supposedly including a CGI Robin Hood remake. However, fans of the iconic Cenobites from Clive Barker's 1987 horror film Hellraiser can hopefully look forward to seeing them have more time in the spotlight soon.
The Hellraiser reimagining, in production through Spyglass Media, recently picked up a director in David Bruckner and screenwriters in Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski according to an April 10 exclusive story from The Hollywood Reporter. It was officially announced in 2019 after discussions and delays over a decade.
While even the most iconic Cenobite, Pinhead, arguably has not hit the same heights of popular culture relevance as characters like the Predator, who will be featured in IllFonic's Predator: Hunting Grounds, Hellraiser is a property that could soar to new heights under the director of this year's Sundance hit The Night House.
It's unclear what a production schedule on this or any film might be due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has led to talks that even Martin Scorsese's upcoming Killers of the Flower Moon may release directly on streaming.
A Hellraiser reboot is currently in development.
