WWE's Xavier Woods is Campaigning to Be a G4 Host | Game Rant
The reveal that G4, the video-game focused channel, is making a return shocked the world. After all, G4 ended all production in 2014. But instead of being skeptical about G4's opportunities in 2020, it seems many are very excited about the possibility. In fact, many G4 fans online are asking for their favorite video game personalities to be hired as hosts, and no one is getting more attention than WWE wrestler and host of the Up Up Down Down YouTube channel Austin Watson, AKA XavierWoods, AKA Austin Creed.
Over the past day, the hashtag #Creed4G4 has spread like wildfire across Twitter. That's largely due to Woods himself, who has led the charge. In a tweet two days ago, Creed dropped a post reading, "Hello @g4tv - I am officially putting in my bid to host any/every single one of your shows." Attached to the tweet was a promo video showing some of Creed's work on live television and his YouTube channel. Creed wants to be one of the new G4's biggest stars.
Then on Saturday, Creed dropped a second Twitter post and video asking G4 to let him host a show or event. The post read, "My campaign begins... please cast your Twitter ballot for me to be a host for @g4t by using the hashtag #Creed4G4. Thank you for your votes." The accompanying video showed Creed doing a political-style promo asking for viewers' vote.
Within hours of Creed's second post on twitter, the #Creed4G4 had gone viral on Twitter, trending in the United States. Creed would later post a screenshot of the hashtag trending, showing that there were already almost 3,500 associated tweets. Even former G4 host Geoff Keighley might struggle with that.
Part of what's driven the hashtag to grow so fast is that it's being shared and retweeted by many of Creed's WWE co-workers and friends. Ruby Riott, Carmella, Montez Ford, and The Queen Charlotte Flair are just a few of those who have spread the word. Even WWE competitor AEW is getting in on the fun, with SCU member Christopher Daniels retweeting the hashtag.
Whether or not Creed will be picked up by G4 or involved with one of its shows or events is almost beside the point now. The hashtag has become a way to celebrate Creed's contributions to both WWE and gaming, an acknowledgment of the man's work while he's still in recovery from an Achilles injury. If it works out for Creed, expect to hear more from G4 as the company unfolds its plans in the months to come.
