Chivalry 2 Cross-Play Open Beta Available Now On All Platforms

With Chivalry 2's release date just around the corner, players are likely more eager than ever to get their hands on the brutal multiplayer sequel. Luckily, they can jump into the medieval warfare simulator now, with the title currently in open beta on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

The beta can be downloaded off each platform's digital storefront and will last until June 1 at 11:00 a.m. ET, allowing players to spend a full weekend getting to grips with Chivalry 2. The entire stint will also feature cross-play, so those wanting to team up or take down friends on other platforms are in luck.

As for what's included in the early look at the game, the open beta will allow for up to 64-player servers, with developer Tripwire noting it creates conflicts on the scale of Game of ThronesBattle of the Bastards. players will also be able to dive into an array of maps and game modes, including two new objective-based conflicts.

The first is The Slaughter of Coxwell, which will see one team attempt to pillage a city as the other defends it. The initial stage of the battle even sees one team play as the city's peasants, defending their homes as the opposing army attempts to burn down their houses. As for the second Chivalry 2 map, it's called The Battle of Darkforest, which tasks one team with infiltrating Fogbern Keep and killing the Duke that resides there. The other team will defend against their foes, who will have to destroy a barricade and capture the fort's gatehouse.

Those maps will be joined by The Siege of Rudhelm and The Battle of Wardenglade, which both appeared in the closed Chivalry 2 beta that took place last month. Rudhelm is another objective-based battle, seeing one team assault a heavily fortified stronghold, and Wardenglade is a more traditional team deathmatch, allowing two teams to wage war against each other.

The Chivalry 2 open beta also includes a free-for-all match type, tournament grounds, full soldier customization, and even a dueling mode on PC. The latter will allow two players to practice their fighting skills by fighting 1-on-1, with participants asked to abide by an "honor system." It seems like there's plenty of content for fans to dive into, with new players able to experience the title for the first time and former closed-beta testers able to access fresh content.

Chivalry 2 releases June 8 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
