Toss A Coin To This Gender Swapped Witcher | Game Rant
The Witcher 3 came out 6 years ago, but thanks to Netflix’s own Witcher series starring Henry Cavill and the game’s lasting impact, there hardly goes a time when Geralt of Rivia goes unmentioned. Although The Witcher is not short of fascinating women, even female cosplayers can’t avoid the lure of Geralt’s power and a talented individual has perfectly captured the character's classic look.
While the list of discrepancies between Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, The Witcher games, and Netflix’s hit series continues to grow, each of those has won over the hearts of fans for different reasons. So, despite the fact that Cavill’s Witcher look doesn't match the in-game armor, it's the one chosen by Nieke for her masterful gender-swapped Geralt cosplay.
As it turns out, the London-based Dutch cosplay and weightlifting fan is perfect for the Geraldine of Rivia role since her hard-earned physique will leave very few doubting she spent years training Kaer Morhen. Nieke's outfit does a perfect job at recreating Cavill’s more subdued Witcher season one look, although it’s been known that Geralt will be suiting up in some rougher armor to face whatever comes his way in season two now that he must protect Ciri and save Yennefer from the Wild Hunt.
Of course, the most notable features in Nieke’s photos are the striking bright yellow eyes that look like they could turn dark as soon as she puts that sword to good use, regardless of the Witchers being an exclusively male guild. Cavill famously put on some annoying yellow contact lenses to play Geralt in The Witcher, unlike Anya Chalotra’s violet eyes as Yennefer, which are a CGI product and generally got a more positive reception.
This isn’t Nieke’s only cosplay work as she previously gained a viral status for her Last of Us 2 cosplay as the perfect Abby, proving she really likes to flaunt her gains at the gym to look the part. In fact, she fell in love with the character so much that she’s currently working to put together a fan-made film spinoff from The Last of Us 2 titled Project Spores.
Meanwhile, fans have plenty to be excited about as WitcherCon edges closer to bring new updates and content for the whole franchise. So even if there won’t be any word of a new Witcher game, fans can rest assured the entire cast will be there, hopefully with a full season two trailer instead of another tiny sneak peek like the one shown in Netflix's Geeked Week.
The Witcher season two is coming to Netflix in 2021.
